My Zero-Waste Journey
How a broke b*tch made the transition to zero-waste, sustainable, green living.
Month by Month Changes

For the year of 2020, I’m making at least one change a month to make my life more sustainable. I’m hoping that by the end of 2021, I’ll be able to say that my life is 100% zero-waste.
Why I’m Making the Change

Over 2019 and 2020, by watching people like Jane Fonda, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Great Thunberg, I became more aware of the effects my life was having on the environment. I decided I needed to do something to lesson my personal impact.
How I’m Affording It

Sustainability is expensive and not everyone has the means to make some of the changes necessary to live a truly zero-waste life. So, instead of focusing on becoming zero-waste quickly, I’m focussing on reducing waste in whatever ways I can afford.
Strategy
- Make month by month changes
- Focus on minimalism and making do with what I have
- Have a clear and achievable goal every quarter, in addition to monthly goals
Growth
If you don’t like the way the world is, you can change it… one step at a time.
Marian Wright Edelham
Let’s be real here, corporations are the problem. But I can be a part of the solution.
Success
We have to define success as meeting small milestones and making progress, rather than the overall change.
